Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López Arrested in El Paso

| Mexico

In a stunning development, Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada García — co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel who had evaded law enforcement for over 40 years — arrived at a private airfield in El Paso, Texas and was arrested by U.S. authorities, alongside Joaquín Guzmán López (El Chapo's son). El Mayo alleged he had been kidnapped, drugged, bagged, zip-tied, and flown involuntarily to the U.S. by Joaquín Guzmán López's armed men disguised in military uniforms. Joaquín surrendered voluntarily; El Mayo was taken by force. Both were arraigned in U.S. federal court.
