Army Surrounds Ovidio's Compound in Tres Ríos

A convoy of approximately 35 soldiers and National Guard officers from GAIN (Grupo de Análisis de Información del Narcotráfico) surrounded a walled compound in the Tres Ríos residential subdivision of Culiacán — an upscale development at the confluence of the Humaya and Tamazula rivers. Four individuals inside the compound were identified, including Ovidio Guzmán López. The government had no search warrant, leaving the legality of the operation in question from the outset.
