Río Blanco Textile Massacre — Workers Shot on Orders of Díaz

| Mexico

Textile workers in Río Blanco, Veracruz, refused to accept Díaz's arbitration decision reinstating oppressive factory rules. On January 7, 1907, workers looted the company store; the army opened fire killing an estimated 50–200 workers (sources vary). The bodies of strike leaders were publicly hanged. The Río Blanco massacre, together with Cananea, demonstrated that the Porfiriato would use lethal force to protect foreign capital against Mexican workers — radicalizing the labor movement and accelerating revolutionary sentiment.
