Suspected CJNG Car Bomb Wounds 10 at Ojocaliente, Zacatecas Police Headquarters — First Vehicle-Borne Bombing of the Post-Mencho Campaign

On the night of Sunday, August 30, 2026, a vehicle packed with explosives detonated in front of the Municipal Police headquarters in Ojocaliente, Zacatecas, wounding 10 people — 2 municipal police officers and 8 civilians, two in serious/critical condition — and damaging 17 structures, including patrol vehicles and nearby homes. Zacatecas State Prosecutor Cristian Paul Camacho Osnaya said the vehicle's VIN traced to an armed robbery reported in Jalisco in April 2026, and that the bombing appeared to be retaliation for the arrest of an alleged CJNG member ('William N') roughly 48 hours earlier following the August 29 Villa García attack. It was the third suspected CJNG explosives attack on Zacatecas police within a week, following the August 27 El Chique dam ambush and the August 29 Villa García motorcycle bomb — and the first vehicle-borne device (car bomb) attributed to CJNG in the post-Mencho campaign.
