Motorcycle-Borne Explosive Wounds Zacatecas Officer and Civilian at Villa García–Aguascalientes Border; Suspect Self-Identifies as CJNG

| CJNG Crisis

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, a homemade explosive device planted on an abandoned motorcycle detonated at the boundary between Villa García municipality, Zacatecas, and Asientos, Aguascalientes, wounding a state police officer and a civilian woman; both were reported in stable condition. A joint Zacatecas–Aguascalientes operation in Asientos detained William 'N,' an 18-year-old from Aguascalientes, in connection with the assault on Villa García municipal police; he self-identified to authorities as a CJNG hitman ('sicario del CJNG'). Zacatecas State Prosecutor Cristian Paul Camacho Osnaya said the attack could be linked to CJNG and to the August 27 El Chique dam ambush, and it preceded a larger, third attack the following night in Ojocaliente.
