EU Adopts €505 Million Support Package for Lebanon's Recovery and Reforms

The European Commission announced €505 million in support for Lebanon covering 2026–2027 — the second half of the €1 billion pledge President von der Leyen made during her May 2024 visit to Beirut. The package funds institutional and security-sector reform, economic recovery and border management, and essential services (education, health, social protection and cash assistance) for vulnerable and displaced families, alongside support for sustainable solutions for Syrian refugees. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said 'a strong and stable Lebanon is fundamental for long-term peace in the Middle East.'
