~100 Masked Settlers Torch Homes and Vehicles in Jalud and Qaryut

| Israel-Palestine

In the early hours of March 22, approximately 100 masked settlers clad in black descended on the Palestinian villages of Jalud and Qaryut, south of Nablus. The attackers torched at least five vehicles, set fire to more than 10 homes, burned the Jalud village council building, attacked a fire truck and injured its driver, and attempted to burn a mosque. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported at least three Palestinians suffered head wounds from beatings and were hospitalized. The attacks continued despite Israeli army and border police presence on the outskirts of the villages. Further attacks spread to Deir Sharaf (vehicle fires, northwest of Nablus), Deir al-Hatab (homes torched, residents injured), and Burqa (attempted clinic arson). Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich attended the funeral of settler Yehuda Sherman — whose death sparked the attacks — and stated the government was working to 'bring down the Palestinian Authority.'
