Saudi Coalition Confirms 13 Civilians Injured in Houthi Ballistic Missile and Drone Attacks on Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif

| Iran Conflict

The Saudi-led coalition confirmed that Houthi ballistic missiles and drones struck civilian objects overnight in the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif, injuring 13 civilians (minor to moderate) and damaging 7 houses and 2 vehicles. The Houthis had separately claimed a large-scale strike on Khamis Mushait's King Khalid Air Base itself, hitting hangars, radar and runways, but Riyadh's confirmation covered only the civilian-area damage and casualties, not the air base claim. Saudi Civil Defense issued 'potential danger' alerts for six cities -- Jeddah, Yanbu, Taif, Abha, Jazan and AlUla. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki said the coalition would respond 'responsibly and firmly to protect the sovereignty of the Kingdom, civilian objects, and civilians,' calling the strikes part of the Houthis' 'approach and extremist ideology of escalation and targeting civilian objects.' The attack follows a Sept 8 barrage that wounded 73 civilians and comes amid the Houthis' rapid advance in Yemen, including the Sept 14 seizure of the Red Sea's Hanish Islands.
