Israeli Strikes on Tehran Fuel Depots Kill 40; Toxic Smoke Cloud Engulfs City of 10 Million

Israeli airstrikes on March 10 targeted the Aghdasieh oil warehouse in northeast Tehran, the Shahran oil depot north of the city, a refinery in the south, and a depot in Karaj. At least 40 people were killed. Thick black toxic smoke hung over Tehran — a city of nearly 10 million — while residents reported difficulty breathing and oil-tainted rainfall staining buildings. The Israeli military stated the fuel complexes were used 'to distribute fuel to multiple military entities in Iran.' Iran's Red Crescent described the strikes as among the most devastating on civilian infrastructure since the war began.
