Third India-Pakistan War Begins

| India-Pakistan

Pakistan launched pre-emptive airstrikes against Indian airbases on December 3, 1971, hoping to neutralize IAF power. India responded with a two-front offensive — in East Pakistan and along the western border. The Indian Army, together with the Mukti Bahini (Bangladesh liberation forces), rapidly advanced on Dhaka. The war was the most decisive of the three conflicts.
