Students at 100+ Colorado Schools Walk Out Against ICE Presence

Students at more than 100 Colorado middle and high schools — including in Denver, Aurora, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Grand Junction, Alamosa, and Nederland — walked out of class at noon on September 4, 2026 to protest ICE's presence near schools and communities under the banner 'Students Say ICE Out.' The walkout was organized by the Colorado Youth Coalition, co-founded by 16-year-old Bre Kennedy of Grandview High School in Aurora, with backing from General Strike US, Brown Berets de Tepetlán, Pulse Colorado, Denver People's March, 50501 Colorado, and No Concentration Camps in Colorado. Denver-area students rallied afterward at La Alma-Lincoln Park. Organizers linked the action to the administration's earlier rollback of 'sensitive locations' guidance that had restricted ICE arrests at schools, hospitals, and places of worship; Kennedy said young people 'are not willing to sit back while communities are harmed and adults in power fail to act.'
