DHS: ICE August 2026 Arrests Hit Record 50,925, Third Straight Monthly High

DHS announced on September 2, 2026 that ICE arrested 50,925 people in August 2026, surpassing a revised July total of 50,208 and marking the third consecutive month of record monthly arrests and the second straight month over 50,000. Secretary Markwayne Mullin said 'for the third straight month, ICE set a new record for the highest number of illegal aliens arrested in a single month, nearly 51,000,' and DHS said more than 300,000 arrests have been logged in 2026 to date. The revised July figure of 50,208 in this release does not match the 49,571 July total reported by AP/PBS NewsHour on Aug 25, 2026, a discrepancy that has not been reconciled by DHS.
