Flores Settlement Reaffirmed: 20-Day Limit on Child Detention

| ICE

U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee reaffirms and extends the 1997 Flores Settlement Agreement, ruling that the government must release children from detention within 20 days, house them in non-secure, licensed facilities, and use the least restrictive setting available. The ruling directly challenges the Obama administration's family detention expansion at Dilley and Karnes City, Texas.
