ICE Officially Established

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is officially created within DHS, merging the investigative and interior enforcement functions of the INS and U.S. Customs Service. ICE inherits approximately 20,000 employees and a broad mandate covering immigration enforcement, customs violations, and national security investigations.
