Kenscoff Massacre: 61 Killed Including 14 Children in Multi-Day Gang Assault
Beginning around 1am on the night of July 7-8, 2026, armed men — reportedly from the direction of Le Refuge — launched a major assault on Kenscoff's Roben locality that continued through July 9, spreading through the commune despite local authorities having warned of an imminent attack and requested reinforced police presence. At least 61 residents were killed, including 14 children; the majority of houses in the affected localities were burned, and numerous residents were kidnapped. The IOM Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT 100.1, covering July 4-9) recorded roughly 5,840 people (1,836 households) displaced from Kenscoff, with 86% of the displaced hosted by other families. OHCHR/BINUH issued a flash report on the events. Kenscoff, a mountain commune south of Port-au-Prince, had already suffered a deadly gang attack in early 2025 and remains outside GSF operational coverage.
