Armed clashes broke out on July 1, 2026 in the municipality of Ganthier, West Department, primarily affecting the Pinso and Grand-État localities of the 4th communal section of Mare Roseaux, near the Dominican Republic border corridor. The IOM Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT 99, covering July 1-7) documented approximately 1,328 people (262 households) displaced; all displaced persons found shelter with host families within Ganthier itself rather than fleeing to formal displacement sites.
