GSF Full Operations Launch; Force at ~800 Personnel, Less Than 15% of 5,500 Authorized Ceiling

| Haiti

The Gang Suppression Force (GSF) launched full operations on June 1, 2026, under the command of Mongolian Major General Erdenebat Batsuuri. The advance force at launch numbered approximately 800 personnel — 400+ Chadian troops (of a pledged 1,500), approximately 75 Guatemalans, and 70 Salvadorans — representing less than 15% of the 5,500-person authorized ceiling established under UNSCR 2793. Thirteen contributing nations had pledged over $200 million ($59 million disbursed). Full operational capacity was not expected until fall–end 2026. The force was concentrated exclusively in Port-au-Prince's city center; Cité Soleil, Martissant, and the Artibonite remained without GSF coverage at launch. The June 1 date occurred against a backdrop of the ongoing MSF Cité Soleil hospital closure (Day 21) and approximately 1.5 million Haitians internally displaced.
