Audit Office Reviews Tbilisi School of Political Studies Over Possible Grants Law Circumvention

Georgia's State Audit Office launched a review of the Tbilisi School of Political Studies, a seminar project run since 1999 by former opposition lawmaker Armaz Akhvlediani, after Georgian Dream officials suspected the Council of Europe paid seminar costs (hotel, transport, meals, speakers) directly rather than issuing a formal grant, circumventing the 2024 foreign-grants law. Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said if confirmed it is "circumvention of the law"; the law carries penalties of up to six years in prison.
