Saakashvili Sentenced to 9 More Years on Embezzlement Charges

A Tbilisi court sentenced imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili to nine additional years for alleged embezzlement, on top of earlier convictions. His supporters call the prosecutions politically motivated; he has staged repeated hunger strikes and is held under restrictive conditions in a civilian hospital.
