Public Defender Documents Ill-Treatment of 225 of 327 Detainees

Georgia's Public Defender (Ombudsman) reported visiting 327 people detained during post-election protests; 225 alleged ill-treatment and 157 showed visible injuries. Transparency International Georgia and other rights groups said the evidence pointed to systemic, planned torture of peaceful demonstrators.
