Parliament's Electoral College Elects Mikheil Kavelashvili President
A 225-member electoral college controlled by Georgian Dream elected former footballer and MP Mikheil Kavelashvili president, with 224 of 225 votes. The opposition boycotted the vote. Incumbent president Salome Zourabichvili called the process illegitimate and said she would not leave office.
