PM Kobakhidze Announces Suspension of EU Accession Talks Until 2028

| Georgia Crisis

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced Georgia would not initiate EU accession negotiations until 2028 and would refuse EU budget support in the meantime. Legal experts and 200 National Bank of Georgia employees called the move unconstitutional, citing Article 78 of the constitution, which mandates EU/NATO integration. Roughly 80% of Georgians support EU membership according to polling.
