UNRWA Situation Report #214: 18,000 Await Medical Evacuation; 571,000 in Emergency Hunger Conditions

UNRWA's Situation Report #214 (released April 1–2, 2026) documented a deteriorating humanitarian situation across the Gaza Strip as all land crossings remained closed. Approximately 18,000 people — including wounded children and patients with chronic illnesses — remain on waiting lists for medical evacuation. An estimated 67,000 Palestinians shelter in 83 collective emergency facilities; approximately 1.4 million remain displaced across 1,200+ sites. The IPC projects approximately 571,000 people in emergency hunger conditions through mid-April, with roughly 1,900 at catastrophe-level starvation — with risk of full famine if crossings remain closed beyond mid-April as UN OCHA warned April 1.
