Gaza Death Toll Reaches 72,285 Since October 2023; 680+ Killed During Ceasefire

The cumulative Palestinian death toll in Gaza since October 7, 2023 reached 72,285 as of March 31, 2026, according to WAFA and the Gaza Ministry of Health. The figure includes mostly women and children, per UN OCHA breakdowns. More than 680 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the US-brokered ceasefire came into effect in October 2025. The ceasefire, which ended the full-scale ground offensive, has failed to halt Israeli targeted operations that continue on a near-daily basis. Human rights organizations including Al-Haq and Amnesty International said March 31 that Israel is obligated under the ceasefire agreement to fully cease hostilities, not just halt ground operations. The Gaza Government Media Office recorded 2,073 Israeli ceasefire violations between October 10, 2025 and March 18, 2026.
