UN Security Council: Window for Gaza Peace 'Not Indefinite,' Members Urge Ceasefire Consolidation
The UN Security Council held an open debate on the Palestinian question on March 25, with multiple member states stressing that the window for consolidating the Gaza ceasefire is not indefinite. The UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process told the Council that Israel must halt escalating settlement activity in the West Bank and allow unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza. UK, France, and EU representatives called for rapid scaling up of aid delivery, noting that only Kerem Shalom remains operational for cargo. Russia and China called for full adherence to international law and immediate lifting of all restrictions on humanitarian supplies. The session followed the Security Council's endorsement of the Board of Peace framework under Resolution 2803.
