Pacific Fusion Breaks Ground on $1B Albuquerque Campus, Signs DOE/NNSA Partnership

Pacific Fusion broke ground on August 26, 2026 on a $1 billion, ~225,000-square-foot research and manufacturing campus at Mesa del Sol in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the US Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration to explore collaboration on high-yield fusion, high-energy-density science, pulsed-power technologies, advanced materials, and modeling/simulation. The site will house Pacific Fusion's pulsed-power Demonstration System, targeting net facility gain by 2030 and fusion bursts exceeding 100 megajoules — the only 'high-yield' fusion facility under construction in the US. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Sen. Martin Heinrich attended; the campus is expected to create 200+ permanent jobs plus hundreds of construction and supply-chain jobs.
