TEPCO Begins 22nd Round of ALPS-Treated Water Discharge (FY2026 Fourth Batch)

TEPCO began the 22nd batch of ALPS-treated water ocean discharge on July 30, 2026, the fourth of eight planned FY2026 rounds. The release is scheduled to run through August 17, discharging approximately 7,800 tonnes of treated water containing roughly 1.3 trillion becquerels of tritium after dilution to below Japan's operational limit. TEPCO has now completed 21 rounds since the program began in August 2023, releasing a cumulative total of approximately 165,000 tonnes.
