Nitrogen Gas Generator Briefly Stops; No Hydrogen Risk

| Fukushima

One of three nitrogen gas separation units supplying the reactor containment vessels stopped at 11:14 a.m. on August 1, 2026, after a water-accumulation sensor triggered on the device due to condensation. TEPCO drained the water and completed recovery work by 3:53 p.m., restoring operation. Nitrogen is continuously injected into Units 1–3 containment and pressure vessels to prevent hydrogen buildup from water radiolysis; TEPCO confirmed hydrogen gas concentrations showed no significant change during the stoppage and there was no explosion risk.
