EP International Trade Committee Prepares for June 2 Extraordinary Vote on EU-US Trade Deal
The European Parliament's International Trade Committee (INTA) continued preparations on May 30 for its extraordinary vote scheduled for June 2 on the EU-US trade implementation regulations. Following Coreper's formal endorsement on May 27, the committee coordinating rapporteurs finalised legal text reviews and line-by-line assessments of the two legislative texts. French MEPs from the EPP and Greens reiterated concerns about insufficient agricultural protection and the deal's steel-and-aluminium suspension clause. The INTA vote on June 2 would set the stage for the full EP plenary ratification vote on June 15-18, timed to meet President Trump's July 4 deadline. If the EP fails to ratify by July 4, the US has signalled it would reimpose 25% automobile tariffs on EU exports.
