European Parliament Opens April Plenary — Middle East Crisis and Energy Prices on Agenda

The European Parliament opened its April 27–30 plenary session in Strasbourg, the last full plenary before the summer recess. Seventeen legislative texts were scheduled for adoption. Key agenda items included an EU strategy on the Middle East crisis, a resolution on rising energy prices and fertiliser costs affecting European farmers, and a significant institutional reform granting MEPs the right to delegate their votes during parental leave (up to 3 months before or 6 months after childbirth). The session represented the most consequential EP sitting between the spring European Council and the June 2026 June 12 Migration Pact application date.
