Sisi Extends Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie's Term for One Year

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi issued a presidential decree on August 12, 2026 extending the term of Admiral Osama Mounier Mohamed Rabie as Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) for a further year, keeping him in the post through August 11, 2027. In a coinciding decree, Sisi appointed Ahmed Khaled Hassan Hussein as SCA deputy chairman for a one-year term. The renewal comes as the canal authority pushes a recovery in transit revenue following the Red Sea shipping disruptions caused by Houthi attacks.
