Second US Ebola Patient Evacuated to Germany for Treatment

WHO confirmed that the second American infected with Bundibugyo virus in DRC was medically evacuated to Germany on 13 July 2026 for specialized care. The same day, the US extended its 30-day suspension on entry for travelers recently in DRC, and certain travelers from Uganda or South Sudan; Americans who have recently been in DRC are barred from boarding commercial flights bound directly for the US and must complete a mandatory 21-day stay in a third country before travelling home.
