US Aid Worker Tests Positive for Ebola in DRC
The US CDC reported on 10 July 2026 that a US citizen working for a humanitarian organization in DRC had tested positive for Bundibugyo virus. Samaritan's Purse confirmed the patient was one of its staff members, a 15-year veteran of the organization's Disaster Assistance Response Team serving in a logistics capacity in Bunia — not involved in direct patient care at the organization's two Ebola Treatment Centers in the area. Samaritan's Purse president Franklin Graham confirmed the case publicly.
