More Than 70 Health Workers Infected as DRC Ebola Outbreak Spreads Fast

Al Jazeera reported on 19 June 2026 that more than 70 healthcare workers have been infected with Bundibugyo virus since the outbreak was declared, as the epidemic continues to spread quickly through eastern DRC's health zones. The high healthcare-worker toll is straining an already stretched response workforce across Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu provinces.
