New Front Opens at Mwenga's Point Zéro, Spreading Into Fizi Highlands

Clashes intensified from the morning of Sept 19, 2026 at Point Zéro in South Kivu's Mwenga territory, pitting a FARDC-Wazalendo coalition backed by Burundian forces against an AFC/Red Tabara-Twirwaneho coalition. Fighting spread south into Fizi territory's Natulonge, Kabindo, Biziba and Irumba villages, opening a new axis of the conflict even as government forces consolidated gains further north in the Masisi-Walikale-Kalehe corridor. No casualty toll was available.
