Opposition Coalition C64 Rejects Tshisekedi's National Dialogue as "Pretended Consultations"

The Coalition Article 64 (C64) rejected President Tshisekedi's national dialogue on Aug 28, with Martin Fayulu reading a joint statement in Kinshasa branding the process "pretended popular consultations" rather than genuine dialogue. C64 argued the initiative fails to address the country's urgent crises — war, insecurity, health emergencies and social hardship — and instead serves as cover for a constitutional revision aimed at a Tshisekedi third term after 2028, which it said risked the country's territorial integrity. Senator Salomon Idi Kalonda separately called the dialogue "factitious," arguing it distracts from resolving the eastern crisis and restoring national cohesion. C64 reaffirmed its planned nationwide march for Sept 15, 2026 against the constitutional-revision push.
