Space in Africa Report: Starlink's African Growth Concentrated in Just Three Countries

| Digital Inclusion

A Space in Africa market report published July 22, 2026 found Starlink had expanded to 26 African markets with roughly 300,000 subscribers as of June 2026, but that growth remains heavily concentrated: Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Zambia together account for approximately 64% of all African subscribers. Zimbabwe was the fastest-growing market, posting 126.1% average quarterly subscriber growth to reach 67,057 users by December 2025. By contrast, Starlink's penetration in more developed telecom markets like Kenya remained marginal at just 0.9% of the local ISP market, underscoring that satellite adoption tracks affordability and existing infrastructure quality as much as raw availability.
