Historic Mass Protests Erupt Across Cuba

Thousands of Cubans took to the streets in simultaneous protests in Havana, Santiago, Matanzas, and over 50 other cities — the largest anti-government demonstrations since 1994. Protesters chanted 'Libertad' and 'Patria y Vida' (Homeland and Life). The protests were triggered by worsening food shortages, medicine scarcity, rolling blackouts, and the economic devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
