Moncada Barracks Attack
Fidel Castro led approximately 160 rebels in a failed assault on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba, the second-largest military installation in Cuba. The attack failed; many rebels were killed or captured. Castro was tried and sentenced to 15 years, delivering his famous 'History Will Absolve Me' speech in court.
