UNEP: Every $1 Invested in Coordinated Climate and Clean-Air Action Returns $15

The UN Environment Programme and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition released a report on September 7, 2026 -- 'Hidden Assets: The Economic and Health Case for Climate and Clean Air Action' -- finding that every US$1 invested in coordinated climate and clean-air measures can generate around US$15 in economic and health benefits, a higher return than tackling the two issues separately. The assessment, described as the first comprehensive global economic analysis of integrated climate and clean-air action, models 25 proven policy measures and finds the benefit-cost ratio reflects both direct market gains and the monetized value of fewer premature deaths and improved public health.
