Ford Energy Reveals DC Block BESS Product Specs: 512 Ah LFP Cells in Containerized 2- and 4-Hour Configurations

A day after its subsidiary launch announcement, Ford Energy on May 12, 2026 published detailed specifications for its flagship DC Block battery energy storage product. The system is built around 512 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic cells — the same chemistry dominant in Chinese utility storage and increasingly preferred globally for its thermal safety, longevity (6,000+ cycles), and cobalt-free supply chain. The DC Block comes in two configurations: FE-250 (2-hour, approximately 250 kWh per 20-ft container) and FE-450 (4-hour, approximately 450 kWh per container), designed for utility-scale deployment in standard container configurations. Production at Ford's Glendale, Kentucky plant begins ramp-up in 2026 with commercial deliveries targeted for late 2027.
