Wind Energy Expands: New Projects Commissioned Across Europe, Canada, and Bulgaria
A flurry of wind energy project announcements on April 17, 2026, illustrated the continued global expansion of wind power. In Canada, Kruger Energy began construction on its Saint-Paul-de-Montminy wind farm in Québec — a 196 MW project that will add clean electricity equivalent to powering roughly 60,000 homes. In Europe, Vestas received a 70 MW turbine order from Tessa Green Energy for a new onshore wind project in Bulgaria, and Qualitas Energy secured a 126 MW onshore wind tender in Germany. Separately, RWE confirmed completion of key offshore substation installations for the Nordseecluster A project in the North Sea. The WindEurope April bulletin noted that North America's wind market is projected to grow from USD 38 billion (2025) to USD 55 billion by 2033 as onshore wind remains the cheapest source of new electricity in most markets.
