Kast Dances His First Presidential Cueca, Opens Fiestas Patrias Fondas

President José Antonio Kast and First Lady María Pía Adriasola inaugurated the Fiestas Patrias fondas and ramadas at Santiago's Parque O'Higgins, opening the dance floor to 'La Rosa y el Clavel' with the Carabineros Orchestra playing, before dancing with regional authorities to 'Viva la Virgen del Carmen.' Kast recited a patriotic 'paya' referencing Chile's Strait of Magellan sovereignty and highlighted that the handkerchiefs used in the dance were sewn by inmates at a Puente Alto penitentiary as a sign of support for social reintegration. The Parque O'Higgins celebrations were set to run September 17–20.
