Sports Minister Natalia Duco Resigns Amid Government-Vehicle Scandal

President Kast accepted the resignation of Sports Minister Natalia Duco and Undersecretary Andrés Otero, announced the night of August 13 and effective August 14, after a Contraloría complaint over misuse of an official government vehicle. Duco had claimed the car was used for a work meeting, but a video showed it being used for a recreational gathering with karaoke, drinks, and an asado. The vehicle episode capped months of controversy at the Sports Ministry, including a Proddar scholarship payment irregularity flagged by the Contraloría and the abrupt, later-reversed cancellation of a BTS concert at Estadio Nacional. Kast named Francisco Riveros as the new Sports Minister the same day.
