'The Slashed Throats' — Three Communist Leaders Killed by CNI

| Chile 1970–1990

Three leftist leaders — sociologist José Manuel Parada, graphic designer Manuel Guerrero, and journalist Santiago Nattino — are abducted by CNI agents and found with their throats cut in Santiago. The murders, known as the 'Degollados' (slashed throats) case, shock Chilean society and the Catholic Church. In 1994, a civilian court sentences several CNI officers to life imprisonment — one of the first successful prosecutions of regime agents while Pinochet remained active.
