Metro Line 5 Partial Closure; Motorcyclist Killed in Metrobús Collision

| CDMX

Several Metro Line 5 stations between Hangares and Terminal Aérea were suspended on May 7–8 due to a guide bar fault caused by thermal expansion during the ongoing heat wave. The STC deployed provisional bus bridge service (puente vial) to cover the affected stretch, adding to surface traffic delays alongside multiple marches. Separately, on May 8, a motorcyclist died after colliding with a Metrobús articulated unit at Circuito Cuemanco station in Xochimilco. The Metrobús network carries approximately 1.2 million passengers per day and has faced recurring safety concerns about conflicts with motorcyclists and private vehicles at exclusive busway intersections. Rain during the same period also disrupted Line 12 service, adding to Friday commuter congestion.
