Eight-Plus Simultaneous Demonstrations Converge on CDMX on May 8
At least eight separate demonstrations took place across Mexico City on May 8, reflecting the breadth of civic mobilization in the capital. Confirmed marches included: the UNAM student march (CCH Naucalpan anniversary), CFE retirees demanding pension rights, the second anniversary march of the 'Convención de la CDMX' (housing and citizen rights, marching from Monumento a la Revolución to the Zócalo), an anti-fracking coalition march, and multiple recreational cycling events. Authorities tracked 3 formal marches, 14 separate concentrations, and 20 recreational events that day. Multiple central arteries including Insurgentes, Reforma, and Circuito Interior experienced congestion.
