14th BRICS Science, Technology & Innovation Ministerial Adopts Chennai Declaration
India hosted the 14th BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Ministerial Meeting in Chennai, concluding August 21, 2026 under India's 2026 BRICS Chairship, with the adoption of the Chennai Declaration. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh chaired the ministerial and delivered the inaugural address, calling for deeper BRICS cooperation in frontier technologies including AI, quantum computing and biotechnology, innovation financing, and talent mobility. Delegations from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa and the UAE participated. Singh highlighted India's National Quantum Mission, National Supercomputing Mission and Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem as models for expanded frontier-research and startup partnerships under the Chairship theme 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.'
