Senate Activates Six-Member Special Commission to Investigate Cerimedo Corruption Allegations

The Chamber of Senators formally activated a special investigative commission into corruption allegations tied to Fernando Cerimedo and his role within the Executive branch, giving it a three-month mandate to report findings to the full Senate. The six-member, three-party panel comprises Paola López and Marcelino Flores (PDC), Leonardo Roca and José Sánchez (Libre), and Eliana Acosta and Marcelo Cardona (Unidad). Its mandate covers Nadia Beller's public allegations linking Cerimedo to suspected fuel, diesel and gold-smuggling operations and to unnamed presidential associates, alongside the separate criminal cases already underway (attempted femicide, illicit enrichment, domestic violence, usurpation of functions and money laundering).
