Nadia Beller Testifies for Three Hours, Seeks Protected-Witness Status

Nadia Beller testified for roughly three hours before Bolivia's Public Ministry in a Gesell chamber at Santa Cruz's Special Victims Unit, answering close to 100 questions from prosecutors followed by cross-examination from Cerimedo's defense team, as part of the illicit-enrichment case. She formally requested entry into the protected-witness program, citing fears for her safety, and said the armed attack against her on Aug. 17 was aimed at preventing "la denuncia de presuntos hechos de corrupción." A virtual hearing was scheduled for Sept. 19 at which prosecutors planned to request seizure of Cerimedo's digital devices.
